Sounds interesting. Personally I just find it easier to go to the remains of salaja and hop in a wurm. But ranger farming is fine too. With a wurm tho u get that 66% speed boost and can get away if u need to.

takes about 3-4 minutes longer, still easily killable in 1 round of EoE, per group
Loot is crappy, get 1-2 lockpicks per run, 2-3 golds per run, maybe 5-10 whites and blues. Often 1 dye per run, and maybe 1 skill tome every 2-3 runs. And about 21K of experience.

That's not bad, i guess they are going to make us work for the gold by selling to other players and not merchants.
I just tried the run in HM, the groups kept on following me and seem like they are healing a lot faster. Did you use the original build or modified? If modified, can you share the build?
Thanks for the feedback.

No, it works on hard mode... just takes a long, long time... like 10+ splinters for me...
got me 3 golds in one run, but it just didn't seem worth the effort... my EoE was almost worn off by the time I would kill a group. Meh, nothing is the same.

Are you running away after each barrage like you're supposed to?

You have to go back out into the zone, and talk to him again to get the next quest.

I drop the margonites in ~4 barrages, 5 if something goes wrong.
Sometimes they just charge at you, as if they suddenly spotted you before you do a barrage, there doesn't seem to be a reason. But when you run away after a barrage, you go up the path till you get to a small chunk of rocks and make sure you don't shoot at the mob again before they've grouped up. This doesn't happen very often though.
Anyway, I use a modified build, and it works like a charm.
[skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill][skill]Barrage[/skill][skill]Zojun's Haste[/skill][skill]Dodge[/skill][skill]Natural Stride[/skill][skill]Predatory Season[/skill][skill]Edge of Extinction[/skill][skill]Tranquility[/skill]
Beast Mastery 9(+1)
Expertise 5(+1)
Wilderness Survival 8
Marksmanship [Leftovers](+1)
Restoration Magic 12
(This is just my rune setup, but is makes no difference if you have any minor runes or not, because of the masks.)
I use an Ironwing Flatbow, and three different headgears.
An Experise (1+3) for the running to the spot, and to use while barraging.
A Beast Mastery (1+3) for when putting up Predatory and EoE
A Wilderness Survival (1+3) for when putting up Tranquility
And btw, if you drop all the margonites except for the boss you get exactly 24k of xp, but that requires a lucky spawn/shot/timing/whatever... and doesn't happen very often.
As long as Tranquility is up, and you run up to the small chunk of rocks by the path, Aegis will run out before your next barrage hits.
So if they aren't too slow about grouping back together, you can drop them before Tranquility runs out, but sometimes the executioners have to spam Healing Signet a couple times before they regroup... (And Predatory Season is only their to reduce the healing, especially the one by the Reapers, as they heal the most)
And as soon as you've dropped a mob, go over and start putting up spirits asap (it's important that Tranquility comes up last because of it's short duration) and you'll have them up when the next mob has grouped.
Just remember to change headgear.
And sometimes, there is a survivor, but that's because of that enchantment they have making them immortal for ~10 seconds, but Tranquility helps to reduce the survivors. If there is one I usually just push on with the killing, but it can screw over the spawn if this happens.
That's just what I found to be the best option for Hard Mode, as this run is no where near worth it in Normal.
Hope you like it anyway

You might want to take muddy terrain, just drop it behind them, that way they do not chase you at all.

Ditto. If I do it correctly, they dont follow me at all after taking the hit. At times, if they do follow, its not that far.
For the king quest, I drop EoE at one corner of the hilltop, turn the camera around so I have the front view of my char, activate splinter, select closest target, click on barrage. As soon as the arrows are released, I click like mad in the opposite direction and activate speed boost. If done right, the arrows hit while I am already running, in which case they dont follow.
Takes me an average of 5-6 barrages to drop them. Get an average of 2 golds per run and dont do more than 5-6 runs in a day.
